Billy Talent and Sum 41 have announced they will be performing a special concert at the Vogue Theatre on Tuesday, July 19, titled “Friends Helping Friends”. All proceeds from the show will go toward benefiting Xavier, the young son of a friend and co-worker of both bands.
Xavier was diagnosed in August 2010 with neuroblastoma stage IV, the 3rd most common pediatric cancer after leukemia and brain tumors. Since this time, he has undergone extensive testing, multiple rounds of chemotherapy and now MIBG treatment, where radiation levels are so high that Xavier is confined to a lead fortified room and his hospital bed for 3 days, without physical contact with his family. Xavier and his family must travel to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for the high dose MIBG therapy.
As the family struggles to keep up with the overwhelming costs associated with treatment, travel and medicine, Billy Talent and Sum 41 are working together to raise much needed money to help support Xavier during this crucial time.
Xavier has been traveling from a very young age to visit his father, Dan, on the road. Most recently while Dan was on tour with Billy Talent, Xavier wore his “hear protectors” (Peltors) and insisted on testing the lights, and Aaron’s kit. Xavier loves music and rocks out personal compositions with his guitar, harmonica and accordion. His dance moves are unparalleled as are his tricycle packing skills, even at the green age of three.
