10 Amazing Bike Routes in Vancouver

By Vancity Buzz

Whether you’re training for the Ride to Conquer Cancer, or simply looking for a scenic afternoon cruise, Vancouver’s the place to do it. Here are some of our favourite bike routes in the GVRD.

  • Pipeline Trail

    By Vancity Buzz

The Pipeline trail on Mt. Fromme is for experienced mountain bikers; you’ll have to climb over berms, ladders & single-track. Sounds intimidating? This is one of the easier trails on the North Shore.

  • Burnaby Mountain

    By Vancity Buzz

Whether you’re a beginner mountain biker or consider yourself a pro, Burnaby Mountain has a trail for you. Located on the east side of the mountain, these trails can take you to Burnaby or Coquitlam.

  • UBC Loop

    By Vancity Buzz

UBC is known to be one of the most beautiful campuses in Canada, and it’s easy to see why when riding this loop. Starting at 10th & Blanca, head onto the UBC highway for a tour of the campus.

  • Central Valley Greenway

    By Vancity Buzz

A 24km route from Science World to New Westminster, this greenway is the perfect route to explore nature and get close to a variety of recreation facilities.

  • Traboulay PoCo Trail

    By Vancity Buzz

This trail takes riders from Downtown Port Coquitlam through 25km of urban & natural terrain, then back to the community centre. If you’re a nature lover, stop by the Colony Farm Regional Park!

  • Spanish Banks Loop

    By Vancity Buzz

Another breathtaking route, the Spanish Banks Loop starts at the east end of Spanish Banks, then onto Marine Drive to UBC & back. Looking to train? This route is great for testing your top speed.

  • Richmond Dike

    By Vancity Buzz

One of the most stunning paths in the GVRD, this route includes tidal flats, marshland and mountain views. Made for all levels, cycle the dike & spend the day in Steveston for best results.

  • Iona Beach

    By Vancity Buzz

Located right by YVR, you’ll need to either ride or drive over the Arthur Laing bridge to reach Iona Beach. The route is flat and quiet and is great for watching planes take off.

  • CBC Trail

    By Vancity Buzz

For the experienced mountain biker, it doesn’t get better than the CBC Trail on Seymour Mountain. This recently-rebuilt course connects to many of the popular lower routes on the mountain.

  • Stanley Park Seawall

    By Vancity Buzz

This wouldn’t be a Vancouver biking list without the famous Stanley Park Seawall. We often take the Seawall for granted, but biking this route every so often will remind you why it’s world-famous!
