Big BC Place crowd expected for Vancouver Whitecaps this weekend
It’s only Wednesday, but the Vancouver Whitecaps have already sold over 24,000 tickets for Saturday’s match at BC Place.
It’s the 26th consecutive MLS match at BC Place to crack 20,000 fans and the 10th time this season to exceed 23,000 fans. With half a week remaining to sell the tickets, the Whitecaps could potentially have their second-biggest home crowd of the season.
The Whitecaps’ biggest home crowd came on Aug. 1, when 40,086 fans were in attendance for their match against Los Angeles FC, a rematch of the 2025 Western Conference semi-final.
The next-largest home crowd was a lower-bowl sellout of 27,589 on April 25 against the Colorado Rapids, as fans made a statement in response to rumours that the Whitecaps might leave Vancouver.
Could the Whitecaps once again sell out the lower bowl as they face D.C. United?
It will be the last chance to see the Whitecaps in Vancouver for over a month, as the team will embark on a five-game road trip. The Whitecaps won’t return until Oct. 28.
With D.C. United near the bottom of the table, it’s an excellent opportunity for the Whitecaps to pick up their 16th win of the season and match their club best 10th home win of the season.
While the Whitecaps have been inconsistent of late, they still sit at the top of the table in the MLS Western Conference with a 15-6-4 record and an MLS-best +33 goal differential.
At 49 points, the Whitecaps are five points up on the nearest Western Conference team, though three teams — Houston Dynamo FC, St. Louis City SC, and FC Dallas — have 44 points and will be looking to unseat the Whitecaps in the final month-and-a-half of the season.
