New plant-based burgers launch at A&W restaurants today

The Beyond Meat burger makes its debut at A&W locations across Canada starting today, July 9!

Offered with classic toppings including lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard, and mayo, the new plant-based burger joins the family of Mama burgers and Teen burgers on menus at the fast-food chain.

Billed as “the world’s first plant-based burger that looks, cooks, and tastes like a fresh beef burger,” this meatless burger patty boasts that it’s as juicy and delicious as its traditional counterpart.

The 100% plant-based patty is made with pulse crops including peas and mung beans, plus beets which gives the burger a pink, “bleeding” appearance.

Just note for strict vegans; the A&W website reports that these patties “are cooked on the same grill as beef, bacon, and eggs and may come into contact with these ingredients,” not to mention you’ll have to ask to hold the mayo to make it truly vegan.
