Did anyone really think it was going to be $175 million when they first announced it? If you did then you are an idiot and deserve to be force fed barrels of gruel for the rest of your life.
It’s now pegged at $900 million. However, BC taxpayers are still on the hook for the original amount of $87.5 million. The catch, another 165 million will be made up over a few years via infrastructure funding by BC. This $165 million would have come in the way of transfer payments from Ottawa, however they will now come directly from the province of BC.The federal government is responsible for any cost overruns.
If you look at this deal closely it is evident that the Liberals worked their magic like only space alien magicians do and got the taxpayers of BC a great deal.
