Spot Prawn Festival is back for 2021, although we can’t expect to attend the regular in-person event at Fisherman’s Wharf amid the pandemic.
But, the good news is we can still celebrate our much-loved BC Spot Prawn Festival this year, just a little differently than we have in years past.
The Chefs’ Table Society of BC and the Pacific Prawn Fishermen’s Association announced that the annual festival will be coming back in a “deconstructed,” COVID-19 friendly format.

This means once spot prawn season officially starts on May 14, 2021, chefs across BC and Canada will start showcasing this delicacy on The Chefs’ Table Society’s social media accounts to get all of us involved.
You can expect to learn how to identify, purchase, and cook spot prawns by following along the fun online.
While the entire spot prawn season lasts around 6-8 weeks, the highlight of the festival will be a main event held virtually on Saturday, May 29, 2021.
Folks can buy tickets to a three-course, cook-your-own spot prawn dinner event to take place on that evening.
Attendees will be guided through tutorials by some celebrated local chefs like Ned Bell and Angus An as they prepare their feasts at home.
Ticketholders will be provided a grocery/equipment list along with recipes and a video link prior to the big event.
Keep an eye on The Chefs’ Table Society’s social media accounts to get more info about purchasing your ticket to the main event and be sure to stay involved throughout the duration of the digital festival.
