Residents at the Amenida Seniors’ Community in Surrey have been keeping things creative while they stay safe at home.

What started as a fun distraction for the seniors during COVID-19 ended up in a delightful project for them, says Karen Schaefer, Recreation Manager at Amenida Seniors’ Community.

“I encouraged my seniors with tablets, iPhones, and laptops to search ‘recreating famous art with junk at home,'” Schaefer said in an interview with Daily Hive.

From there, the idea really stuck, and the residents started recreating famous paintings with items they had handy.

The results were nothing short of awesome.

Schaefer says she has been “amazed by the resilience and coping skills” of the seniors during the pandemic, and that the photo shoots consist of a lot of fun and laughter.

“Family and friends are really enjoying this project right now, as we have no face-to-face visits during quarantine of course.”

It’s safe to say all of BC is loving this project from afar.
