BC officials congratulated Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on their projected win of the White House on Saturday.

The Premier John Horgan released an official statement, extending his thoughts on behalf of the people of BC.

After winning in Pennsylvania, Joe Biden surpassed the 270 electoral votes needed to become the 46th President of the United States.

“The United States is a close friend and partner of B.C., and we have taken important steps together with our neighbours to fight climate change, grow the innovation economy, and build a more sustainable future,” Horgan said.

“Alongside the Government of Canada, we look forward to strengthening and growing our relationship to get through the pandemic and build an economic recovery that works for everyone.”

Horgan also tweeted his “heartfelt congratulations” to Biden and Harris.

The Mayor of Vancouver, Kennedy Stewart, also took to the social media platform to congratulate the pair in an “incredibly challenging election.”
