
The busy holiday travel season is upon us, and four B.C. destinations have been named hot spots for Canadian visitors this winter.
Vancouver and Whistler just ranked among popular domestic winter travel destinations for Canadians, according to the latest winter travel outlook from Expedia.
Meanwhile, Ucluelet and Victoria scored among the highest trending cities for domestic travellers this season.

Vancouver came in second, and Whistler placed seventh among the popular domestic winter destinations. Toronto took the top spot, followed by Montreal in third.
Other destinations on the list include Quebec City, Calgary, and Ottawa.
Ucluelet took the fourth spot for trending domestic destinations, with Victoria coming in sixth. Prince Edward Island and Jasper took the top two places on the trending list.
The report also noted that Canadians are trading snow for sand this winter, with destinations like Cancun, Punta Cana, and Puerto Vallarta ranking high in its popular international winter destinations.

British Columbia has been in the international travel spotlight numerous times this year.
Lonely Planet, which covers the world’s “most extraordinary places and experiences,” recently revealed its 25 must-visit destinations for the year to come, and B.C. is the only Canadian destination to make the cut.
The World Ski Awards, a global initiative that celebrates excellence in ski tourism, has crowned a Whistler destination as the best ski hotel in Canada.

Vancouver Island was named one of the world’s top winter travel destinations for its Indigenous and Canadian coastal culture, its arts scene, and music festivals.
And YVR beat out major competition to be crowned best airport in North America. The latter award is one of several won by B.C. travel attractions and destinations, continuing a hot streak of recognition for the local tourism industry.
