Dozens of BC pilots participated in a mass flyover of Metro Vancouver on Monday evening, in a touching tribute to the CF Snowbirds.

The flyover was organized by the BC General Aviation Association and called “Operation Backup Inspiration.” A total of 35 airplanes began a flight at Abbotsford and flew across the Lower Mainland following Sunday’s Snowbirds crash in Kamloops, which resulted in the death of Captain Jenn Casey.

The Snowbirds were performing over Kamloops as part of a cross-country tour to lift the spirits of Canadians during the COVID-19 pandemic. The aerial aerobic troupe has been grounded until further notice.

Once the first aircraft passed, a line of planes followed that lasted for approximately 14 minutes.
