Winter east of Hope: Heavy snowfall on BC Interior highways (PHOTOS)

Oct 13 2017, 9:51 pm

Some of the highways in the BC Interior have been experiencing heavy snowfall conditions, resulting in slick road surfaces.

Over the past few days, winter conditions have fallen on Highway 3 east of Hope and Highway 97C between Merritt and the Okanagan.

There is also heavy snowfall on the Coquihalla Highway near its summit.

On the Sea-to-Sky Highway, snow has begun accumulating in the area immediately north of Whistler Village.

Precipitation forecasted to arrive in the Southern Interior and Lower Mainland this weekend could fall as snow over high elevation areas.

If you’re thinking about doing a weekend road trip to the interior of BC, winter tires are now an absolute must to traverse the icy conditions. It is also a requirement by law, with non-compliance subject to a fine.
