Spotting whales in the water of the BC coast is an incredible experience anytime, but getting up close and personal with them is a whole different level of encounter.

Such was the case when Eagle Eye Adventures, a whale watching tour agency out of Campbell River on Vancouver Island, encountered humpback whales swimming right below their boat, recently.

ā€œWe were watching the whales from about 125 meters away when they decided to come and take a closer look,ā€ said Eagle Eye Adventures onĀ Facebook.Ā ā€œPretty cool experience, a once-in-a-lifetime day on the water.ā€

Luckily for the rest of us, they caught the whole thing on video.

ā€œWe suspect that these whales are being petted in the Mexico area and so they are used to boats and people, we do not pet them, we just let them do their thing and after a while they will take off again,ā€ they added.
