'Mesmerizing' B.C. hiking trail named one of the best in Canada and the U.S.
Fall is upon us, and outdoor enthusiasts looking to make the most of autumn can visit a B.C. hiking trail that’s one of the best on the continent.
The Lighthouse Loop in Ucluelet has landed in the top 10 of Travel + Leisure‘s best hiking trails for gorgeous autumn leaves across Canada and the United States. It was just one of two Canadian spots on the list.
According to Travel + Leisure, some of the best spots in North America to experience the changing colours of leaves can be experienced on foot.

“As temperatures drop across the U.S. and Canada, the trees become an autumnal mix of red, yellow, and orange hues,” wrote Travel + Leisure writer Stacey Lastoe.
“Sure, you could appreciate the scenery from a car window, but to fully immerse yourself in the riot of colour, lace up those hiking boots and hit one of the best fall trails from Upstate New York to British Columbia.”
The travel media outlet described Lighthouse Loop as arguably the most scenic section of the popular Wild Pacific Trail (WPT) system.
“While it can be combined with the longer Bog Interpretive Loop and Spring Cove mudflats, you can just walk this 1.6-mile portion for glorious views of the Amphitrite Point Lighthouse, which is particularly mesmerizing at sunset or sunrise.”
WPT is an 8 km rugged coastal trail with many hikes, including the one-hour Lighthouse Loop that takes you through enchanting Pacific temperate rainforest regions.

Lighthouse Loop is identified by Travel + Leisure as an “easy and approachable” hike that’s appropriate for all skill levels and is also partially accessible for visitors with wheelchairs and strollers.
The other Canadian hike on the list was Ontario’s Track and Tower Trail in Algonquin Provincial Park. The full list can be found online.
