The hotly anticipated opening of the province’s first Costco Business Centre has finally arrived, and the facility is massive.
Located in the Queensborough District of New Westminster, at 1085 Tanaka Crt., the Costco Business Centre is spread across a whopping 146,000 sq. ft.
The location might be the first in the province, but it’s the eighth in Canada. Costco says the space has created hundreds of jobs.
“The 146,000 square-foot facility has created 290 local jobs and unprecedented convenience for local businesses,” Costco said in a release.
Daily Hive Urbanized first reported on the new location earlier this spring.
Costco Business Centre’s cater specifically to business customers with bulk and specialized products, in contrast to the far more common Costco warehouses, primarily tailored for everyday shoppers. While the centre might cater to businesses, it’s open to all Costco members.
Costco says the space will offer over 3,000 high-quality items, specifically targeting restaurants, convenience stores, grocery stores, and offices.
“From bulk food items, to commercial kitchen wares and cleaning supplies, to office furniture, coffee needs and everything in between.”
For a limited time, there are some promotions available during the opening week. Some of those deals include:
- $110 off a Eurodib heavy-duty induction cooker
- $100 off a 25 kg block of Agropur unsalted butter
- $50 off a Panasonic automatic commercial rice cooker
- $25 off per unit of San Daniele prosciutto
- $20 off a 16-litre tub of Hellmann’s real mayonnaise
You could swim in that much mayo. There will also be other promotions you can ask about in-store.
The new facility also features what Costco calls an “impressively large” cooler at 14,000 sq. ft. With the store’s own fleet of eight trucks, Costco will also offer next-day delivery within its designated delivery zone that extends across the city.
“This new Business Centre is the first of its kind in British Columbia. It is part of a Costco national expansion plan, with additional Costco Business Centre locations planned to open across Canada over the coming months,” Costco says.
Costco also has plans for additional locations in Metro Vancouver that are yet to be announced.
“Business owners will find the same items both in-store and online by visiting Costcobusinesscentre.ca, with business-friendly hours of Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.,” Costco adds.
“We are thrilled to open our doors and offer this new service, which will better respond to the needs of local business owners,” said Marc-André Bally, Senior Vice President, Western Canada and Business Centres, in a statement.
“The Costco Business Centre concept is already a resounding success in other parts of the country, and we look forward to offering the same benefits to businesses in New Westminster and surrounding areas, which we also hope will bring many new consumers to discover the benefits of a Costco membership.”
