Happy ending for honorary BC Ferries crew member Churro as owner found

A stuffed pink donkey currently on an impromptu adventure with BC Ferries will soon be reconnected with its owner after winning the hearts of thousands online.
Last week, the company posted a public plea asking for help in locating the person who had lost a “beautiful pink donkey” dubbed Churro the Burro.
“They were found on the Salish Raven on Thursday, July 16, and we suspect they may have been left behind on an afternoon sailing from Swartz Bay to the Southern Gulf Islands,” read a social media post.
“In the meantime, they’re making the most of their adventure by taking in the sights, enjoying some soft serve, doing a little light reading, and they’ve even made some new friends in Passages.”

BC Ferries shared images of Churro pulling its weight as an honorary crew member.
Photos of it greeting other stuffed animals in the gift shop, helping out on the bridge, and visiting the engine room delighted thousands of followers hoping that the stuffy’s family would be found.

“Churro is having a better summer vacation than most of us,” said one person.
“If Churro doesnt find a ‘home,’ I think she should continue her travels,” added another. “Maybe become a mascot.”
The company even created an unofficial theme song for the burro titled, “Pink. Donkey. Club.”

On Monday, July 20, the company shared the good news that Churro’s family had been found, thanks to the help of the thousands of people who shared the photos and story on social media.
“Thanks to our incredible online coastal community, the search is over,” said BC Ferries. “Churro belongs to five-year-old Alfie, whose nana bought the pink donkey for him in Mexico. We’re planning a reunion this week, and Alfie is very excited to see Churro again.
“Thank you to everyone who shared, commented, tagged friends and joined us on this adventure.”
