BC Ferries bans "verbally abusive" anti-mask protesters

Oct 18 2020, 2:33 am

BC Ferries banned anti-mask protesters for “causing a disturbance” on a Saturday morning sailing.

According to BC Ferries spokesperson Deborah Marshall, the “large group” of anti-mask protesters were on the 8:30 am sailing from Departure Bay to Horseshoe Bay.

“We assume they were travelling over to the protest in Vancouver today,” said Marshall, adding that the group was being “verbally abusive to other passengers” and they were not abiding by BC Ferries’ mandatory mask policy.

Marshall said BC Ferries called West Vancouver Police who attended to the protesters when the ship arrived at Horseshoe Bay.

“They are banned from travel for at least today,” she said. “We don’t tolerate this type of behaviour.”
