Health officials to give update on BC's immunization strategy today

Jan 13 2021, 7:30 pm

Health officials in British Columbia will provide an “administrative update” on the province’s immunization strategy on Wednesday afternoon.

The announcement will take place at 12:30 pm and will include Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, Minister of Health Adrian Dix, and Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Chair Dr. Penny Bellem.

Earlier this month, Henry explained that more details surrounding BC’s mass COVID-19 immunization strategy would be available in mid-to-late January.

We only know the basics now, including that vaccine will be distributed based on age with priority descending in five-year increments. To date, 62,294 people have received a COVID-19 vaccine in BC.

A written update on BC’s case numbers is also expected at approximately 3 pm.
