BC health officials announce 619 new COVID-19 cases

A total of 619 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in BC as of Wednesday afternoon, bringing the provincially recorded total to 39,337.

During a live update, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said that broken down by health authority, this equates to 121 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 384 cases in Fraser Health, 5 cases on Vancouver Island, 81 cases in Interior Health, and 27 cases in Northern Health, and one new case in someone who resides outside of Canada.

There are 338 individuals currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 75 of whom are in intensive care. Health officials also announced 16 new COVID-19 deaths, for a total of 559 virus-related fatalities.

There are currently 9,329 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, with 11,526 under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.
