BC sets another single-day record with 274 new coronavirus cases

BC health officials announced 274 new coronavirus cases Thursday, setting a grim record for the second day in a row.

The previous daily high was 203 new cases on October 21.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said no one else died from the virus in the last 24 hours, leaving BC’s death toll at 256.

There are now 1,920 active infections in the province and more than 4,000 people who are in mandatory self-isolation after being exposed to a known case.

Across BC, 71 people are in hospital, including 24 in intensive care.

The province has now seen 12,331 infections since the pandemic began.

Broken down by health region, that’s 4,260 in Vancouver Coastal Health, 6,720 in Fraser Health, 249 in Island Health, 644 in Interior Health, and 365 in Northern Health.
