One more person has died from coronavirus in BC

BC health officials have announced one additional death in the province linked to COVID-19.

During a press conference Wednesday afternoon, BC Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry also announced 53 new test-positive cases, bringing the number of provincial cases to 1,066. A total of 25 people in BC have now died from coronavirus.

Broken down by health region, Henry said there are 497 known cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 367 in Fraser Health, 72 on Vancouver Island, 114 in Interior Health, and 16 in Northern Health.

Of the total cases, 142 are hospitalized and 67 are in critical care.

Henry added that there are now 21 long-term care facilities and assisted living homes in BC that have been identified with cases. North Vancouver’s Lynn Valley Care Centre saw an increase of two additional cases. Henry adds that both Lynn Valley and Vancouver’s Haro Park Centre are continuing to deal with larger outbreaks.

A total of 606 people in the province have fully recovered and are no longer requiring isolation.
