
Over the past two evenings, several border runners were arrested in Abbotsford, B.C., after being caught trying to enter Canada illegally.
Five individuals who tried to cross the B.C. border illegally were arrested over the span of two nights. The Abbotsford Police Department shared additional information about the incidents that occurred on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
According to the Abbotsford Police Department, the five border runners who were arrested were in connection with three separate border running incidents. Four of the individuals were turned over to the Canadian Border Services Agency, and one individual was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
“These arrests highlight the vigilance and adaptability of our frontline officers. From traffic stops to border-related incidents—no two days are ever the same in policing,” Abbotsford Police said in a statement.
“We remain committed to protecting our community and supporting our federal partners in maintaining border integrity.”
The department is also asking people to report suspicious activity near the border by either calling 911 in the event of an emergency or contacting the Abbotsford Police non-emergency line at 604-859-5225.
