Don’t call it a comeback, but Oliver is no longer the most popular baby name in B.C.; that title now belongs to Noah.
The top 10 baby names of 2025 have been revealed by B.C.’s Vital Statistics, and are based on the number of people who chose those names for their newborns last year.
“The name Noah took first place this year, with 198 more choices of Noah than last year’s most popular name, Oliver. Noah took first place in 2022 and 2023,” a release from the B.C. Ministry of Citizens’ Services states.
The ministry also revealed the top 10 names, which, aside from Noah, include:
- Oliver
- Theodore
- Liam
- Olivia
- Charlotte
- Jack
- Henry
- Sophia
- James
Noah’s popularity jumped up quite a bit in 2025, as it was the fourth-most popular name in 2024. This was 2024’s top 10:
- Oliver
- Olivia
- Liam
- Noah
- Theodore
- Charlotte
- Lucas
- Isla
- Amelia
- Leo
The ministry points out that only names that occur five or more times are listed.
“From Jan. 1 until Dec. 15, 2025, 41,557 babies were registered as born in B.C.,” the ministry adds.
While the website hasn’t been updated to include 2025 as of this publication, you can still compare the most popular baby names up to 2024 on this B.C. website.
The website allows you to go back to the 1920s. On that front, in 1922, the most popular baby name in B.C. was John, followed by William, Robert, Mary, Margaret, James, George, Dorothy, Charles, Arthur and Gordon.
