Two climbers discovered human remains at a popular outdoor attraction in B.C., and now the RCMP is working to determine who it was.

Sea to Sky RCMP in Squamish revealed some details about the discovery the two climbers made in Shannon Falls Provincial Park on Friday morning.

At around 7 p.m. on Friday, April 24, two climbers located what they believed were human remains. They then contacted Squamish RCMP.

One day later, a successful joint operation between the Squamish RCMP and Squamish Search and Rescue led to the recovery of the remains. The remains were recovered from what the RCMP is calling a “remote location.”

“Details of the individual located were prematurely released, but we are continuing to work with the BC Coroners Service to investigate the circumstances leading up to the discovery and the identity of the individual,” Staff Sergeant Sascha Banks, Sea to Sky RCMP Squamish
Detachment Operations Commander, said in a release.

Currently, there are no indications that foul play was involved, and the RCMP says there is no risk to the public. Squamish RCMP will not be releasing any more information, nor will it be offering media availability about the incident.

Shannon Falls is roughly an hour away from Vancouver by car, and the B.C. attraction was recently in the news due to a university prank.
