B.C. is the most physically active province in Canada

A new study shows that British Columbia is home to more physically active residents than any other province in the country.

The info comes via market research company Ipsos Reid, who found that “B.C. households are the most active, with 86% of all households engaging in any fitness or sports activity.”

In contrast, the least physically active province is Quebec, though their participation rate is still fairly high, and close to British Columbia’s, at 77%.

Walking for exercise is among the top favourite activities in B.C., and here in our province, nearly one out of every five residents participates in swimming–about twice as many as in Quebec.

The study does not appear to dive into the population breakdown of Vancouverites who prefer to drink their soy lattes with locally micro-roasted espresso beans before versus after doing group yoga sessions in civic gathering places.
