We’re all trying to come up with creative ways to keep busy around the house lately.

For parents though, not only are they having to keep themselves entertained, but their kids, too. Whether it’s finding a new routine for a living room that’s now a remote classroom, or finding ways to keep their little ones on their toes, thinking of unique ways to keep the fam busy right now is crucial.

And although spending so much time indoors with the family can seem like a lot to deal with, the silver lining is that it’s also a unique time to spend as much quality time together as possible.

Here are seven activities families can do to make time fly by and make the most of their quality time together.

Build a fort

Thinking back to being a kid, building a fort was one of the most exciting things you could do. Depending on what you use to make it, it can also be as complex or as basic as you want. Make it cozy by using couch cushions, and if you don’t have an actual flashlight, use one on a cell phone. If you’re looking to make the fun last even longer, destroy and rebuild.

Watch Disney+ on repeat

We know that screen time gets a bad rap sometimes, but let’s be easy on ourselves right now. This is the perfect opportunity to catch up on shows or movies you’ve been meaning to watch. We’re not saying watch TV all day long, but throwing on Frozen II for the little ones every now and again can be a great way to keep them entertained. You can sign up for Disney+ here.

Build a water table

Kids love to play with water, but that doesn’t mean it just needs to be in a pool or in the bath. To have fun, all you need is some space outside and a container of some sort with water in it. Gather as many bath toys or beach toys as you can — buckets, rubber duckies, you name it — and use your imagination as much as possible. The kids will love it!

Baby yoga

You might have turned to YouTube recently to get your own personal fix of exercise. We have too. But who says that online workouts can’t be for the whole family? After all, kids love moving around more than any of us. Working out together with activities like yoga is a great way to keep kids entertained and also works out their balance and instruction skills.

Teach a new sport

Everything is new and exciting to little ones, including learning a new sport. Whether it’s kicking or throwing a ball, swinging a bat, shooting a ball, or taking a shot at the hoop, getting out and about with your little ones is a great way to get off the couch right now. It doesn’t have to involve teaching them how to be a pro baseball player either, it can be as basic as playing a game of chase.

Dance party

Another great way to get everyone moving — and probably the most fun — is having a dance party. Not only is dancing a great way to relieve stress and unwind, but it’s a great way to bond with the fam. Don’t think it just has to be the Frozen soundtrack either. If you want to dance to ’90s rap, chances are the littles ones do too.

Take a nature walk

Getting some fresh air right now is key and we all know how much kids love being outdoors. Even though we’ve all changed the way we go to the park, it doesn’t mean we can’t still enjoy the outdoors from time to time. Whether you’re strolling through your local trail or taking a drive to a beautiful path somewhere out of town, going out in nature right now will work wonders for both you and the fam.

Do some baking

Whether it’s making a cake for a birthday or throwing together something fun and easy like muffins or cookies, baking is a super fun way to engage the kids. Getting the kids involved doesn’t need to include complicated recipes either — it’s all about just getting them engaged creatively. Pull out some cookie cutters with cute shapes (or DIY) if you want to make things extra fun!
