Argan Bistro, Danica's Café now closed

Although Argan Bistro received praise for its locally-sourced west coast fare, Kevin Lee has decided to close his West End eatery. We checked out their regular menu and brunch earlier this year.

Lee indicated that the restaurant was not doing as well as he had hoped. Situated on Jervis Street (just off Robson), Argan Bistro doesn’t get as much foot traffic as the city’s main stretch. After clearing out the Jervis Street locale, Lee plans to take some time off, and travel overseas.

Here’s Argan Bistro’s farewell message:

Over in Crosstown, Danica’s Café has permanently closed up shop with little explanation. The European-inspired restaurant and bakery, famed for their charming interior and Eggs Benedict has vacated the premises at 556 Beatty Street. As part of our on-going brunch series we checked out the café’s brunch spread a few months back.

The café, which had been in operation for less than a year, has also removed their website, Twitter and Facebook accounts.
