Amazon's new giant distribution centre in Metro Vancouver to open this year
Construction is quickly progressing on Amazon’s new fulfillment centre to serve the company’s rapidly growing online retail market in Metro Vancouver.

Plans for the new sprawling warehouse facility, spanning a floor area of 450,000 sq. ft., were first announced last year at Delta iPort — located at 41B Street and Salish Sea Way, next to Deltaport, on land leased from the Tsawwassen First Nation.
The facility is so large it can fit 26 ice rinks inside.
The property is being developed by GWL Realty Owners on behalf of the project owner, the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.
Amazon’s fulfillment centre is a part of the first phase of the 57-acre industrial park. It is scheduled to open by the end of 2019.

“Our team at Amazon is thankful for the support we’ve received from the Tsawwassen First Nation and community leaders, and we look forward to creating great, living wage jobs here,” said Vibhore Arora, Amazon’s regional director of operations, during a recent tour with local First Nation leaders.
“We’re also dedicated to giving back to the communities where we operate and today we’ve donated $10,000 to the Reach Child & Youth Development Society.”
Arora added the company is “proud to join them in supporting their efforts to help children with special needs reach their full potential.”
When open, Amazon’s third fulfillment centre in BC will create over 700 full-time job, with crews picking, packing, and shipping customer items ordered online.
Other fulfillment centres are located in New Westminster and elsewhere in Delta.
Amazon will also be increasing its number of office worker positions in downtown Vancouver to 5,000 by 2023.
