Nearly five months after being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, Canadian native Alex Trebek announced he will be returning to host Jeopardy! this September.
In a video posted on social media, Trebek shares that he’s “gone through a lot of chemotherapy and that is now over.”

“I’m on the mend and that’s all I can hope for right now,” he said.
In May, Trebek updated fans in an interview with People Magazine and shared he was “near remission.”
“It’s kind of mind-boggling,” Trebek, 78, told People. “The doctors said they hadn’t seen this kind of positive result in their memory… some of the tumors have already shrunk by more than 50%.”
Season 36 of Jeopardy! will premiere on September 9.
