Hikers warned as RCMP track ‘aggressive’ bear on Burnaby Mountain
Hikers, outdoor enthusiasts, and residents are being warned to be vigilant, as reports of an “aggressive” black bear on Burnaby Mountain have surfaced this week.

On Monday, Burnaby RCMP tweeted that they had received reports of the animal and were working with BC Conservation Officer Services to “locate the bear and determine the next steps.”
We have received a report of an aggressive black bear on Burnaby mountain and are currently working along with @_BCCOS to locate the bear and determine next steps. Expect to see a police presence in the area of the Trans Canada Trail, Ridgeview, Burnwood and Gnome’s Home trail.

In a follow-up tweet, police also advised the public to use extra caution if using any of the trails on the Burnaby Mountain – particularly in the area of Trans Canada, Ridgeview, Burnwood, or Gnome’s Home trail.
Anyone who spots the bear is asked to contact police.
