Big and Small Rescue is baffled as to why no one has adopted Chaves. Frankly, I am too.
First, let’s talk about that face. Who doesn’t love a scruffy terrier face? I mean, come on.
This wee man also has a sparkling personality. He’s great with both dogs and people.
Finally, I think it’s safe to say this terrier cross has “personality plus” as he lays around like a frog and sleeps on his back with all four legs in the air.
Not much is known about the history of this diamond in the rough. He was picked up as a stray back in June, but no one came to the shelter to claim him, and no adopters were interested. He has now been microchipped, so he will never go missing again.
Big and Small transported Chaves to Vancouver where he has been living with a foster family.
He is about five years old, weighs about 12 lbs, and has an adorable underbite.
Chaves is a barker, but whoever owned him before cruelly had his voice box removed. As a result, “it’s just a lot of silent barks and soft squeaking,” says his foster mama Krystie.
The pint-sized pup loves other dogs and is being fostered with a much larger pooch. He has not been tested with children, but the agency feels he’d do well in a home with older kids that don’t bug him too much.
He loves to play, especially whipping around his stuffed duck, but he’s also happy just taking it easy, lying around the house or snuggling up on the couch.
Walk time is a happy one for Chaves, and he hasn’t shown the typical prey drive to go after birds or small animals.
