71-year-old man stabbed in food court of Abbotsford mall

A 71-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being stabbed at a food court inside an Abbotsford mall on Monday.

In a release, Abbotsford Police said they were called to the mall, in the 32900 block of South Fraser Way, just before 12:30 pm, for reports a woman was threatening to stab people.

Upon their arrival, officers were directed to the mall’s food court just in time to see a 71-year-old man being stabbed by a woman.

A 36-year-old woman was arrested and taken into custody as a result of the incident.

Now, the Abbotsford Police Department’s Major Crime Unit is leading the
investigation with the assistance of Patrol Division officers and members of
the Forensic Identification Unit, said APD Sgt. Judy Bird.

“We are asking anyone with video or information about this violent attack to
contact the Abbotsford Police at 604-859-5225,” she added.
