$60 million up for grabs in this week's biggest-ever Lotto Max draw

If you like playing the lottery, there is a chance you could become a major millionaire this weekend if you pick the right numbers for Lotto Max’s record-breaking $60 million jackpot.

We are used to seeing the usual $50 million up for grabs for Lotto Max’s weekly Friday night draw, but new rules implemented in July have allowed the jackpot to grow to an unprecedented $60 million. That’s not all; the game still hands out 25 $1 million Maxmillions prizes

The company states that if one person wins the big jackpot Friday night, that will forge the Canadian record for the biggest single prize ever won in the lottery. The last time this record was broken was in July 2015 when one person from Quebec won a $55 million Lotto Max jackpot.

Big winners in B.C. are rare, however. Lotto Max records that 25 per cent of their top-level winners hailed from the Prairies and Northern Canada. A 33-year-old Delta mother, Lisa-Marie Draganiuk, was the last big B.C. winner when she won $12.5 million in June. Her ticket was purchased at a Delta Shoppers Drug Mart.

Potential winners can purchase their tickets up until 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 25. If no one wins the big prize this weekend, the jackpot will be carried over to October 2.
