Located at 1789 Comox Street in the Denman Mall, this spot opened in early October and was named after owner Kaiyu Lin’s preference to leave her customers’ Americanos only 3/4 full so they always have enough room to add milk or cream just the way they like it.

This West End hangout is a very spacious 1,800 square feet and has seating for about 50 people. At one end of the cafe there is the food counter and the other end is home to the barista station.

There are small tables as well as communal tables dispersed in the industrial-style space where people can relax and enjoy freshly-made Taiwanese cuisine and a specialty beverages like sea salt coffees, Taipei fogs (a version of the London Fog), wintermelon tea, or one of the many flavours of bubble tea available. For the espresso-based drinks 3 Quarters uses 49th Parallel‘s Old School Espresso.

The cafe has a drool-worthy selection of sweet treats like their best-selling naidong roll (a Taiwanese cake roll) in either original or matcha, as well as the delightfully fluffy and custom-stamped Japanese cheesecake, pineapple cake, almond crisp, fusion breads, and Taiwanese buns made in-house daily in a variety of classic and seasonal flavours like coconut fluffy cream and red bean.

It’s not all about the sweet stuff at 3 Quarters, there is a menu full of savoury Taiwanese street food such as the fresh Gua Baos with pork belly, cilantro, and crushed peanuts, along with basil popcorn chicken, a club sandwich, a crispy pork floss sandwich, and traditional ‘Hometown Soups’ like white radish and meatball in pork broth (yes – one, singular delicous Taiwanese meatball).

For the early birds 3 Quarters offers a $6 coffee and breakfast sandwich deal with the choice between a club or a dry crispy pork floss sandwich complete with eggs, ham, Japanese cucumber, pepper, and house mayonnaise.

A great place to grab breakfast to-go or enjoy a leaisurely lunch and cheesecake – 3 Quarters Full is sure to become a local staple in this beachy neighbourhood.
