2008 Parade of Lost Souls, Commercial Drive

Dec 19 2017, 11:42 am

This year marks the 5th anniversary of the Parade of Lost Souls which takes place the Saturday before Halloween in Commercial Drive. This annual parade is put together by the Public Dream Society, the website describes the event as:

The Parade of the Lost Souls is a lively commemoration of the cycle of life and death, and of facing fears in order to live life to its fullest. Costumed stilt walkers, jugglers, dancers, and musicians lead a walking procession through the neighborhood.

You’ll be surround by ghosts, skeletons and marching pumpkin heads as the Commercial Drive neighbourhood brings out the Halloween spirit within Vancouverites. All the while you’ll hear the beating of haunting drums as you march through the Drive. You’ll also be greeted by your usual fair of naughty nurses, cops and the like, if that is more to your liking.

The residents of the Drive are an integral part of the organization and cleanup of the event. As one proceeds through the residential sector, the Commercial Drive heritage style homes add to the allure and experience as they conjure up visions of haunted houses in your head, you just don’t get that with McMansions and Vancouver Specials. Expect to see decorated houses and yards littered with ghosts, witches, mummies and other ghoulish figures. Be sure to bring some donation $$$ as the Public Dream Society is a non-profit organization.

Where: Grandview Park (see map)
When: October 25, 2008
Time: Be there at 6:30p, the procession starts at 7:00 pm
