Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Coquihalla Highway.

According to the weather agency, “a warm front will bring heavy snow to the Coquihalla Highway” between Hope and Merritt, beginning this morning. Total snowfall amounts are expected to reach 20 cm by Wednesday morning.

“Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance,” said Environment Canada.

“Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.”

Additional snowfall warnings are also in place for East Columbia, North Columbia, Prince George, and Shuswap. Full updates can be found on Environment Canada’s website.
