17-year-old critically hurt after hit-and-run in North Vancouver

Jan 26 2021, 11:03 pm

North Vancouver RCMP are investigating a hit-and-run that happened Monday night, and while an arrest has been made in connection with the incident, they are asking for additional witnesses to come forward.

According to police, the incident took place around 10:15 pm, near Keith Road East and St. Andrews Avenue.

Police said witnesses found the victim – a 17-year-old female – “unconscious and critically injured,” adding that some of them “heard the collision and sounds made by the vehicle.”

Now, investigators believe there may be others not yet identified who saw or heard the collision, or possibly captured evidence on surveillance video, and are appealing for those witnesses to come forward.

“Although we have made an arrest, it’s very important that we continue our efforts to gather all available evidence,” said North Vancouver RCMP Sgt. Peter DeVries.

Police are looking for witnesses who may have seen or heard a “white, newer model vehicle” in the area or on neighbouring streets.

Anyone who was on or near Keith Road East between Ridgeway Avenue and St. George’s Avenue, or near Lynn Valley Road and the Safeway parking lot at Lynn Valley Centre, around the time of the accident, is asked to contact North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311.
