Though FIFA did not provide specific numbers per country, they did reveal that more than 4.5 million fans around the world applied to buy tickets for the upcoming event.
Successful applicants will be notified of their status beginning on Monday, Sept. 29, with time slots for purchasing tickets starting Wednesday, Oct. 1.
Those who are selected for the draw, however, are not guaranteed tickets, as they may no longer be available when their respective time slot opens up. Tickets for group-stage matches start at US$60.
Those not selected for this lottery still have a chance at getting tickets, as anohter draw will begin in October. Hospitality packages are already up for sale, though they are not cheap to purchase.
FIFA will also launch its own resale platform for tickets, while Canada Soccer will hold an additional ticket lottery. Tickets for that lottery will be handed out at random.
Canada is set to host 13 World Cup matches in 2026 — seven at BC Place in Vancouver and six at BMO Field in Toronto. FIFA has estimated that roughly 6.5 million fans are expected to attend the tournament, which will also take place in the United States and Mexico.
