The next spot on our list of the 10 best ice cream spots in Vancouver isn’t a spot… yet. In about a month you’ll be able to visit Earnest Ice Cream at their brand new storefront on Fraser and 24th. Until then, here’s how to create your own spot with Vancouver’s favourite small batch artisan ice cream: bring two spoons, a lover and some Tahitian Vanilla to a scenic viewpoint and share some delicious summer memories.

Ben Ernst and Erica Bernardi created Earnest Ice Cream with serious fun and human connections as top priorities. At local farmers markets the pair love hearing feedback from loyalists and observing enjoyment on the faces of first-time tasters, or soon-to-be Earnest addicts. Their passion shines through the whole operation, from the bicycle freezer they began with to the handwritten labels on their signature glass jars.
The ice cream base is made from local, all-natural milk, cream and eggs. Some flagship flavours include Whiskey Hazelnut, Salted Caramel, Milk Chocolate, and Mint Chip. Rotating and seasonal flavours, like Blue Cheese and Fig, Pumpkin Pie, Chai, Lavender, and Oatmeal Brown Sugar, showcase Ben and Erica’s culinary skills and keep the community guessing what they’ll be churning next.
Earnest’s new Fraser St. home will bring ice cream production under the same roof as the parlour and café that Ben and Erica have been imagining since the company’s start. Beyond those walls, the two will continue spreading the love of Earnest with the genuine positivity and passion that’s already earned them widespread affection.
