WestJet takes jab at airlines that overbook flights in latest commercial (VIDEO)

A new WestJet commercial is taking aim at airlines that bump passengers off flights.

According to the Canadian airline’s policy, they do not overbook flights and their new commercial attempts to drive that point home.

The ad depicts a frustrated customer who complains about being bumped off of his flight.

“If I owned an airline, I would make sure everyone gets the seat the paid for,” the man says. He’s then met by a WestJet representative who reassures him that the company does not overbook their flights.

The new commercial comes at a time when other airlines, such as Air Canada and United Airlines, have been criticized for bumping passengers off flights.

The federal government is also taking action by introducing legislation for an airline passenger bill of rights that will set the standards for air travel in the country.

“We have all heard recent news reports of shoddy treatment of air passengers,” Garneau said at a news conference in May. “Such incidents will not be tolerated in Canada. When Canadians buy an airline ticket, they expect the airline to keep its part of the deal.”
