Wayne Gretzky’s Toronto closing after 26 years due to condo development

Wayne Gretzky’s Toronto and Oasis Rooftop Lounge will be closing to accommodate an upcoming condo development.

Although there is no official date as of yet, the doors will shutter in 2020.

For 26 years in the heart of the Theatre District, the beloved sports bar and rooftop patio has served as an ideal space to watch sports teams take to the rink, court or field.

Apart from being a restaurant, sports bar and patio, the establishment is also loved and respected for being home to many of Wayne Gretzky’s personal memorabilia, which are displayed throughout the restaurant for fans to appreciate.

Over the years, Wayne Gretzky’s has become more than just a restaurant — it’s evolved into a community hub for sports fans and anyone with an appreciation for Wayne’s contributions to hockey history.

And in some cases, diners have had the opportunity to meet and chat with Walter Gretzky, who regularly visits the restaurant.

It’s the little – albeit iconic – things like this that’ll make saying goodbye to this spot a sorry lose for the city.
