Toronto is getting a vegan wine festival next month

The city’s already got a couple of vegan holiday markets, and you know what would pair perfectly with those? An all-vegan holiday wine fair, that’s what.

The Social Herbivore, created by Master Sommelier Jen Huether and vegan lifestyle expert Priya Rao, will be hosting its first-ever fully vegan wine tasting event on December 5.

Taking over the Annex location of the Centre for Social Innovation from 5 pm to 11 pm, the event will offer the chance to try vegan-friendly wines, many of which are also organic, sustainable, or biodynamic.

Unbeknownst to you, many of your favourite wines are likely already vegan, according to the event’s organizers. Since most wineries don’t identify wines that don’t use animal products in the winemaking process, this event will help you learn what’s what.

In addition to plenty of wine, anticipate vegan food catered by Wandering Deli, cupcakes by Have A Heart Bakeshop, and a pop-up shop by The Queen V that’ll feature natural, eco-friendly, cruelty-free gifts made by Canadian small businesses.

And of course, there will be a DJ on site to keep the vibe merry and bright.

A portion of the event’s proceeds will be donated to Humane Society International – Canada, to support Love Puppies and their work to help companion animals.
