You can now get vegan soft serve from a shipping container in Toronto

Jul 6 2018, 8:47 pm

A new source for vegan soft serve has popped up in Toronto’s Beach neighbourhood.

Operating out of a shipping container, The Chufa Co. prides itself on serving “the world’s only tigernut milk based ice-cream,” developed by Doug Goff, a world famous ice-cream scientist at The University of Guelph.

The Chufa Co. already sells its unique plant-based products in specialty stores across the GTA and Ontario but this new semi-permanent spot on Queen East is a first.

The brand is known for its dairy-free, nut-free, and soy-free ice creams made with tigernuts, a root vegetable most famously used for Spain’s national drink, Horchata de Chufa.
