You can now have an Uber or Lyft pick you up at Toronto Pearson Airport

It may not be the best ranked airport in the world, but Toronto Pearson Airport is our gateway out of – and back into – the city. And now you can request an Uber or a Lyft at the busy international hub.

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) has launched a pilot project for ride sharing companies to pick up and drop off passengers at Toronto Pearson.

Starting June 12, passengers with Uber and Lyft rideshare apps on their smartphones can request UberX and Lyft rides from Canada’s largest airport.

As part of the pilot project, the airport said that it will continue to monitor the impacts of this service on existing transportation providers and review their feedback.

For those arriving in Toronto and looking for a ride into the city, getting an Uber is simple.

Just jump on the app and request one as usual.

Once you’ve requested your ride, here’s where you’ll meet your driver:

For uberX and uberXL: If you are at Terminal 1, the driver will meet you downstairs on the ground level outside of Door Q. Look for the blue curb. If you are at Terminal 3, your driver will meet you on the Arrivals level outside of Door D on the outer curb. Follow the signs to cross the street and wait at the blue-painted curb at Zone 3.

For UberBLACK, UberSUV and UberSELECT: If you’re at Terminal 1, your driver will meet you on the Arrivals Level outside of Door A. For Terminal 3, meet your driver on the Arrivals Level outside of Door A, at Column 9.

Uber says that rides from Toronto Pearson to downtown Toronto/Union Station will start around $33.

Looks like airport limos are getting some welcome competition… finally.
