Two employees at a McDonalds location in Richmond Hill reported that they are presumed positive for COVID-19, leading to a temporary closure of the restaurant.

According to McDonald’s Canada, two employees at the 420 Highway 7 location on September 15 were presumed positive for COVID-19, and to ensure everyone’s safety at the time, the decision was made to shut down the restaurant for a thorough cleaning and sanitization.

Those staff members who may have been in close contact with the employees have been asked to self-quarantine, McDonald’s Canada told Daily Hive in an email.

“Maintaining the health and well-being of our crew and guests is our top priority, and we will continue to monitor and adapt measures, where necessary,” said McDonalds Canada.

They are advising guests who had visited the restaurant on September 9 or 11, to follow directions by Ontario Public Health or checking on their website.

The location reopened on September 16.

In order to ensure everyones safety, McDonalds Canada has implemented hand sanitizer dispensers inside the restaurant, floor signage for social distancing, front counters with protective screens, and glove-wearing by employees while taking payments and serving guests among several other measures.
