The TTC says it will close a portion of Line 1 early next week.

According to a release from the transit agency, Line 1 (Yonge-University) between Sheppard West and St Clair West stations at 11 pm this coming Monday, Oct. 29 to Thursday, November 1.

Shuttle buses will run during that time.

The closure is in order to expedite modernization of its subway signalling system and carry out important maintenance, said the TTC.

“The early closures Monday to Wednesday will allow the TTC to extend Automatic Train Control (ATC) operations south of Sheppard West Station to Spadina Station by the end of this year,” it said. “Currently the system is only operational between Sheppard West and Vaughan Metropolitan Centre stations. Thursday’s early closure is for state of good repair and winter preparedness work.”

The TTC says that similar early closings are scheduled for next week, November 5-8 between Spadina and St. Andrew stations. Additional early weeknight closings are also planned for next spring.

Be sure to plan ahead.
