Travel + Leisure magazine just announced its 2018 editors’ picks of the Best New Hotels in the World and a Toronto hotel made the list!

Keeping good company with extrodinary global destinations spanning exotic villa resorts, luxe crash pads, and zen ryokan-style hotels, Toronto’s landmark Broadview Hotel has been recognized as the only Canadian property to make the notable list.

“Housed in a landmark Romanesque Revival building, this boutique hotel in the ascendant East End is a cheeky mash-up of old and new. Neon art, rotary phones, and brass poles wink to the building’s past as a gentleman’s club; the boudoir aesthetic extends to the 58 rooms, with their red velvet drapes and floral wallpaper,” writes, Travel + Leisure’s Siobhan Reid. “Despite the throwback references, it all feels fresh and youthful — as does the local crowd that comes to knock back craft beers on the rooftop. Doubles from $233.”

The Toronto hotel, which opened in 2017 following extensive renovations, took over the former Jilly’s strip club in Riverside and houses 58 guests rooms as well as the Civic Restaurant, Lobby Café + Bar, rooftop patio, and a second-floor event space.

“What a great honour for The Broadview Hotel to be included in Travel + Leisure’s 2018 It List and featured alongside extraordinary properties across the globe,” said Les Mallins, hotel proprietor in a press release. “We are proud of our team, who have been working diligently to craft and deliver a unique hospitality experience that incorporates the deeply-rooted history of the property with the spirit of the east-end neighbourhood. We invite all, whether locals or travellers, to come and enjoy a little piece of Toronto’s past and future.”
