The driver of a transport truck is lucky he didn’t seriously hurt himself or someone else after getting caught driving the wrong way on the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) early Wednesday morning, police say.

The truck was travelling on the QEW on Cawthra Road to Erin Mills Parkway in Mississauga — a distance of about 13 km — around 3:30 am Wednesday, June 26, according to OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.

The driver, a 55-year-old man from Quebec, was charged with one count of careless driving, Schmidt said.

A careless driving ticket can get you a fine of anywhere between $490 to $2,000 and a loss of six demerit points.
