This newly opened eatery does $5 breakfast sandwiches
Tractor Foods is the latest West Coast restaurant to land in Toronto. Located on Yonge Street just south of Richmond, the new spot is the first in Toronto for the mini-restaurant chain that already operates five outposts in Vancouver.
It’s a casual, counter-service concept open daily from 7 am to 9:30 pm and pouring espresso-based bevies from fellow-Vancouverite 49º Parallel Coffee Roasters all day. The open kitchen slings baked goods, avocado toast, breakfast sandwiches and parfaits in the morning, followed by a lunch and dinner menu featuring hearty bowls, soups, stews, salads, and sandwiches.
The aforementioned breakfast sandwiches are all $5! And, fluffy scrambled eggs with turkey sausage and cheese loaded onto a brioche bun is among the selections.
At lunch and dinner, bowls are the main draw. Built over a base of greens or brown rice and served with any two sides, the bowls are loaded with a choice of protein including grilled avocado, tofu, short ribs, or Ocean Wise approved fish such as wild Coho salmon or Albacore tuna.
The range of sides includes nearly a dozen seasonal options like artichokes with white beans in vinaigrette, roasted cauliflower in curry yogurt, kimchi with cabbage, and more.
Meanwhile, rounding out the menu, find sandwiches, soups, stews, and signature salads like kale caesar.
The new restaurant is still awaiting its liquor license but once that comes through, cider, craft beer, and wine will be available on tap in addition to draught kombucha which is already pouring.
