Another Toronto restaurant, Chubby’s Jamaican Kitchen, is closing its doors temporarily after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

The restaurant shared in an announcement on their Instagram that a Chubby’s employee has tested positive for the virus and had last worked a shift on September 17.

The employee is currently self-isolating; however, the restaurant has decided to temporarily close until further notice.

“We are optimistic that this is an isolated case as no other team members are experiencing symptoms and rigorous sanitation, social distancing, and mask-wearing procedures were followed. We will only reopen when we feel it is safe to do so and only with team members who have tested negative,” said Chubby’s.

The restaurant will undergo a deep cleaning and be sanitized in order to remove the possibility of any surface contamination.

Several restaurants and fast-food chains have temporarily closed their locations due to positive results among staff members such as JOEY Yorkdale and Sherway, The Keg, and McDonald’s.

The entire team at Chubby’s will be in self-isolation, will require testing for coronavirus, and  must receive a negative test result before resuming work.

For customers who had reservations for the next few days, those will be rescheduled or cancelled.

“Sending positive vibes to our beloved team member and wish all who were affected by this devastating virus a quick recovery,” said Chubby’s.

“We thank everyone for your support during this trying time and look forward to welcoming you back to our little island escape at 104 Portland St very soon.”
