Toronto Raptors' NBA Draft workout list includes these 12 players

The Toronto Raptors are inching closer to adding some young talent to their team.

Toronto holds the ninth overall and the 39th overall picks in this year’s draft, and are weighing their options for who exactly they’ll end up drafting.

Projections for how the top of the first round — past projected No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg, who seems set on going to Dallas — can vary widely depending on the source, so it’s hard to track exactly who will be available to the Raptors when their picks come around.

But it appears that the Raptors are casting a wide net, while also targeting a bit of local flavour.

Sportsnet’s Michael Grange reported on Sunday that the Raptors plan to workout Gonzaga’s Ryan Nembhard, an Aurora, Ont., native and brother of Indiana Pacers guard Andrew Nembhard, who is currently playing in his first NBA Finals.

The Raptors worked out the elder Nembhard in 2022, before he went one pick ahead to Indiana at 32nd overall. Toronto selected Christian Koloko with the 33rd pick, who is now with the Los Angeles Lakers organization after being waived by the Raptors following a series of health issues, including a severe blood clotting problem.

After Nembhard, it’s now an even dozen players that the Raptors have been linked to.

Along with Grange’s report, USA Today’s Rookie Wire and HoopsHype’s Draft Workout tracker have combined to come up with a list of 12 prospects Toronto has either worked out already or plans to work out:

  • TJ Bamba, Oregon
  • Lamont Butler, Kentucky
  • Dylan Cardwell, Auburn
  • L.J. Cryer, Houston
  • RJ Felton, East Carolina
  • Dajuan Harris Jr., Kansas
  • Ryan Nembhard, Gonzaga
  • Tahaad Pettiford, Auburn
  • Aaron Scott, St. John’s
  • Alex Toohey, Sydney Kings (NBL)
  • Trey Townsend, Arizona
  • Jamir Watkins, Florida State

Cryer, Harris, Nembhard, Scott, and Townsend are all new additions to the list since initial reports of the Raptors’ list began to drop in late May.

The NBA Draft is set for June 25 and 26 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
